Uncle Steve crossed over on a Tuesday. He was the youngest kid of my grandfather's sister - Linda Mann & Harrison Worthington Harper in funky named Valentine, Nebraska. After graduating public school he enlisted in the Air Force in 1943. 3 years later he enrolled at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut & graduated 1949. A couple of years later in 1952, he married his lovely wife of 68 years Sara Larson. They moved to Englewood, New Jersey where he bought 2 women's clothing stores in Englewood & Montclair. In 1961 they moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he bought Panel Wholesalers. Continuing to pursue his education he earned a business degree from Wake Forest University. A benevolent man - Steve was on the board of Forsyth Hospital, president of the local Kiwanis, senior Warden at St. Anne's Episcopal Church then St. Paul's Church, where he was lay reader for 22 years. He loved his peach & apple orchard, played bridge, did woodworking, liked to read & travel. He always had a smile & a joke & easy to hang with. He was survived by his wife - Sara , sons Lars & his wife Mary , and Jeffrey , daughter Elisabeth & husband Dr. John Wiener. He adored his 7 grandkids & great gandson.
