Sylvia Dusek Addicks went quietly to her eternal home on May 13, 2023. She passed away at St. David's Hospital in Austin, Texas after a lengthy illness. She was born on July 31, 1946 to Emil and Sylvia Dusek in Victoria, Texas. She attended St. Michael Catholic School in Weimar and graduated from Weimar High School. After graduating, she married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence Addicks in August 1965. They built their home in the New Bielau area where she happily lived the rest of her life. Sylvia was very active in many community and state organizations. She held numerous positions in most of the organizations she belonged to. She was a proud member of St. Michael Catholic Daughters, KJZT and RVOS. Most recently she volunteered her time and helped organize the Weimar Food Pantry. In her earlier years, she enjoyed fishing in Rockport, making frequent trips to Louisiana and selling Tupperware. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lawrence Addicks, her brother and sister-in-law, Emil Joe and Dana Dusek of Katy, her sister, Judi Dusek Henneke of Schulenburg and brother-in-law, Franklin Addicks of Weimar. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Katie Dusek Simonson, Karen Dusek Berlanga and husband Frank, Kristopher Dusek and wife Misti and nephew, Justin Henneke, eight great nieces and nephews and one great, great nephew and numerous cousins and friends. Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Frank and Mary Addicks, one brother-in-law, Mark Henneke and one sister-in-law, Rita Addicks. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar, Texas. Visitation will be from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM with a rosary beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in the St. Michael Catholic cemetery in Weimar. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas.
