Source: Daily Ardmoreite • Services for John E. Houchin, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Griffin Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Jody Ham officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Born Sept. 18, 1921, in Ardmore, to Jim and Ocie Bentley Houchin, he died Feb. 12, 2002, at the local hospital. A lifetime resident of Ardmore, he served with the Army Air Corp in World War II and retired as a captain from the Ardmore Fire Department. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, American Legion Post 65 and Firefighters Association. He and Joyce Stewart were married on Nov. 4, 1946, in Ardmore. He is survived by his wife, of the home; a son, James, Ardmore; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lynn Houchin; and grandson. Ardmore firefighters will serve as bearers. ∼ Name: John E.
