Laura is the daughter of Richmond C Howell and Susan Brazile/Brazell of Shiloh, Union Parish, LA where they are buried. She married Pinkney Thomas Riley "Pink" Shaw on 1 Feb 1866 in Sulphur Springs, Rusk Co, TX. They had 10 children: Susan Direndy who died at 1.5 mo., Laura Loretta (Shaw) Tidwell, Robert Samuel Shaw, Everett Anthony Venesula Shaw, America Pernelope Shaw, Sidney L. who died at 1.5 yrs, Martha Lavenia "Mattie", Missouri Arkansas, Eliza Jane, and Alma Ewilda Shaw who died 2.5 yrs.
