Son of Deloris Maxine Barnes Thompson Gerald E. Thompson was born October 20, 1947, at Greeley, Nebraska to Floyd and Deloris (Barnes) Thompson. He was raised in Greeley County and received his early education at Fussyville Rural School and North Loup-Scotia Elementary then graduated from North Loup-Scotia High School in 1966. On April 12, 1969, Gerry married Margaret Wadas. To this union three daughters and three sons were born. Gerry worked in the agriculture field; working for local farmers, the Ord Coop, driving trucks and farming northeast of Ord. For 30 years he was employed at the Valley County Department of Roads upon his retirement he continued to work for his sons at Triple T Farms. Gerry and Carol (Hain) Snodgrass were married on July 24, 2010. The couple made their home in Scotia where they enjoyed spending time with their families and grandchildren. Gerry was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was a past 4-H Leader and enjoyed the Saddle Club, trail rides and driving trucks. Gerald E. "Gerry" Thompson, 75, of Scotia passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023; at the Valley County Health System in Ord, Nebraska. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol of Scotia; his mother, Deloris Thompson of Ord; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Jamie, Tom and Stacy and Wes and Jessica all of Ord; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Gary Hickson of Haltom City, Texas, Marci and Marvin Veach of Central City, and Shari and Tom Meyer of Ord; step-children, Glen and Allison Snodgrass of York, Paul Snodgrass of Ord, Jake Snodgrass and Chelsey Hansel of York and Terri and Monty Jorgensen of North Loup; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Deb Thompson of Le Mars, Iowa; and a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Paul Wood of Parsonsburg, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Thompson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2023; at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father Mark Maresh will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Church beginning at 5:00 p.m. and the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the North Loup-Scotia Rescue Unit or St. Mary's Catholic School.
