Bio

Elbert Sherrill, 95, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. E.C. was born March 18, 1912, in Stephenville to Anna and Roscoe Sherrill. He graduated from North Side High School in Fort Worth and later received his college degree from UCLA. He married the love of his life, Frankie Corinne Westfall of Hasse, in 1936 and they celebrated 70 years Dec. 23, 2006. As an electronic engineer, E.C. spent most of his career in San Diego, Calif. While there, he worked for Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corp. and the Naval Electronics Laboratory. During World War II, E.C. worked as a radio operator and once flew with Charles Lindbergh. An avid amateur radio operator, E.C. was K6JFP in California and W5TPP in Texas. Survivors: Wife, Frankie Sherrill of Fort Worth; son, Cliff Sherrill of Prescott, Ariz.; and granddaughters, Erin Sherrill of Denver, Colo., and Dayna Sherrill of Prescott.
