Roller Ballard Funeral Home online obituary: John R. Prewitt, 83, of Benton, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at Saline Memorial Hospital. He was born December 6, 1920, in Little Rock to the late Charles and Enid Wolf Prewitt. In addition to his parents, two brothers, Charley and Bill Prewitt also preceded him in death. Mr. Prewitt was a member of First United Methodist Church of Benton and served in the Pacific during WWII in the Army. He worked for Southwestern Bell for 31 years, was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club and Telephone Pioneers Camping Club, and was a Mason. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mildred Fleming Prewitt of Benton; one daughter, Beverly Moore and husband Bob; one son, John Prewitt II and wife Gerrie; four grandchildren, Christi Armstrong and husband David of Nashville, TN, Leigh Roberts of Mississippi, Jon Michael and Jessica Prewitt both of Springdale, AR; three great grandchildren; one nephew, Charles Prewitt and wife Judy, and one niece, Enid Mooney. Funeral service is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. George McCoy and Rev. Susan Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. Pallbearers are Robert Fleming, Rickey Fleming, Ralph Beaty, Ben Vance, Charles Prewitt, and Chuck Prewitt. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047). Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Benton Building Fund.
