Bio

Rev. J.L. Lilly, pastor of the Baptist Church at Millersfield, died at the home of his mother in Abilene. Services were held at the residence conducted by Rev. E.A. Kimbrough, pastor of First Baptist Church in Abilene and Rev. J.D. Kennedy, pastor of Oak Street Baptist in Abilene. Rev. Lilly had been a preacher for more than 20 years, having served the cause of Christ in every way possible and was a resident of Abilene for several years. Rev. Lilly came to his mother's h ouse only a few days ago and his death was quite sudden. Surviving are his wife; four children - Miss Edith Lilly, Miss Ethel Lilly, Lonnie Lilly, and J.C. Lilly; two sisters - Mrs. P.H. Watkins, Mrs. Walter Wilson; one brother - W.L. Lilly. Abilene Daily Reporter October 28, 1914 front page
