Thelma Ethel "Sandy" (Terry) Syversen, 86, passed away in Murray, Utah on Monday, March 13, 2023. Sandy was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 22, 1936, to James Garfield and Thelma (Van Wagoner) Witt Terry. She was one of their eight children. SIBLINGS (4): Colleen (deceased, Robert D.) Giuliani; of Leechburg, Pennsylvania; Darce Van (Roylance Elaine) Terry (both deceased); Joseph Chad Terry, of Taylorsville, Utah; and Joel Terry, of Garden City, Utah; HALF-SIBLINGS (3): Alta Terry Mangrum, Dean Russell (Marcia) Witt and Palmer Grant (Lova Marie Nichols) Witt (all deceased); SISTERS-IN-LAW (2): Lois Terry, Linda Terry and Ruth Mari Syversen Sandy was raised on her parents' Draper, Utah farm. She was educated at Draper Park Elementary School and graduated from Jordan High School. At age seventeen, Sandy moved to Salt Lake and began working for Utah Wholesale Grocery. It was here that she met her future sweetheart. MARRIED: Richard "Dick" Peder Syversen (deceased) DATE: September 1, 1955 PLACE: Salt Lake Temple CHILDREN (4): Charlene "Char" (Kenneth D.) Copier, of Saratoga Springs Utah; Darryl Richard Syversen and Julie Jo Coles, both of Salt Lake City; and LaDean (Dean Lloyd) Copier, of West Jordan, Utah; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren Sandy adored her family and lived by the motto, "There's always room for one more." Her home always had an open door and she happily welcomed friends and visitors, alike. She was a "busy bee" and homemaker who spent hours lovingly raising and tending her grandchildren. She was also a wonderful cook whose family and friends eagerly anticipated her annual Halloween meal of chili and scones. Sandy was the "ultimate church lady". She loved spending time serving others and loving them unconditionally. Sandy faithfully served in callings within the various auxiliaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. SERVICES held in the Salt Lake Riverside Stake Center, 1148 North 500 West on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, followed by interment in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 3401 South Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah.
