Rose Marie Sulak, 78, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at a local nursing center. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial: Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation: 6 p.m. Sunday, with a bibical wake at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. She was born in Crisp on June 19, 1924, the second daughter of six children born to Annie Pleiner and Joe F. Valek. She was raised on a farm in Ennis during the Great Depression. She was a valedictorian of her high school class and she was active in several sports. She moved to Dallas during World War II and after the war she married Justin J. Sulak on April 21, 1947. Rose Marie was a devoted Catholic wife and loving mother. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her sons, their wives, her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Her many talents were painting, quilting, sewing, cooking and gardening, restoring antiques and home decorating. She was actively involved in the Food Pantry at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Survivors: Rose Marie was dearly loved and is survived by her sons, Marvin and his wife, Sharon, Robert Sr. and Wayne and his wife, Karen; grandchildren, Christy and Helmuth Koelzer, Cheryl and Jeffrey Moehling, Michelle and Christian Crowder, Robert Sulak Jr., Justin Sulak, James Sulak, Michael Sulak and Rose Sulak; and great-grandson, Scott Koelzer.
