Bio
Elizabeth "Ann" Hickman, age 81, passed away in Athens, Texas on February 12, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born on October 16, 1941, to Robert Carter and Julia (Vieregge) Carter Whitman in Athens, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul G. Hickman; brother, David Carter and sister-in-law, Brenda Gober. Elizabeth was a yard work extraordinaire. Always taking pride in her flowers and making it look immaculate. She was the past president of a garden club in Athens, member of the Women's Club and was an honorable member of the East Texas Arboretum in Athens. She also enjoyed being a part of the literary clubs in Athens. Elizabeth grew up in the Cross Roads and Malakoff area. She then moved to Duncanville and spent many years there before retiring back to Athens. She loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Browning; grandson, Christopher Harris; sister, Patricia Everett (Michael); great grandchildren, Kobe Harris and Halle Harris; along with numerous nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws; Cleo Hickman and wife Nancy and Jerry Gober. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17 Chicago, IL 60601. Graveside services will be held on February 25, 2023, at 2:00PM at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens. Arrangements are under the direction of Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
