J. W. Peters Died At Ashton Wednesday The death of J. W. Peters occurred at Ashton Wednesday morning about ten o'clock. Funeral services will be held in Ashton Saturday. Mr. Peters suffered a paralytic stroke about seven months ago and had been bedfast since. He was 80 years old. The Sherman County Times - Jan 26 1939 Julius Peters Rites Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 o'clock at the St. Francis church in Ashton for Julius P. Peters who died at his home Wednesday morning after an illness of seven months. He suffered a paralytic stroke in June and since has been bedfast. Rev. A. Jarzemski officiated at the services. Interment was made in the St. Francis cemetery. Julius Peters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nickalous Peters was born in Mlynkawo, Poland, December 31, 1858. He came to the United States in the year 1875 on the 18th of May and settled at Momence, Ill. There he married Matilda Mazure on October 30, 1880. They spent five years farming and then came to Nebraska. They settled on a farm seven miles southeast of Ashton and later in 1920 moved to Schaupps. They resided there until they retired in December, 1935, and came to live in Ashton. At the time of his death he was 80 years and 24 days of age. He had been a member of St. Francis church since it was built nearly 40 years ago. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, 9 children, 5 sons and 4 daughters: John and Rudolph of Ashton, Stanley of Wolverton, Minn., Henry of Loup City and Adam of Portland, Oregon; Stella Kozera, Cedar Rapids, Josie Pilowski, Genoa, Emma Marsh of Grand Island and Prudence Siwinski of Ashton; 36 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Theophil, who died in infancy and Bob who died Dec. 23, 1918, also all his brothers and sisters. The Sherman County Times - Feb 2 1939
