Bio

Amos Caskey, age 88, of Grapeland, Texas died February 23, 2008, at his residence. Burial at Guiceland Cemetery was under direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. Military honors by Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City, La., were conducted at Guiceland Cemetery. He was born October 14, 1919, in Anderson County to the late Sam and Denora Hardin Caskey. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean War, retiring in 1962 as a master sergeant. He was co-owner of Hillside Trading Post, and was a charter member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907. He was preceded in death by his stepmother. Survivors include his wife, Nelda Jean Caskey; sons, Tommy Caskey, and Dale Caskey; one sister; one stepsister; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
