1930 Census-Salina, Sevier, UT: Frank Jackson 49 Martha Jackson 45 Mariom Jackson 22 Bessie Jackson 20 Loren Jackson 18. Living with parents and was a bookkeeper for a high school. Exerpted obituary-Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) Bessie Jackson Thompson passed away July 2, 2001, at Holladay Health Care where she had been a resident since April 2001. She was two months shy of being 92 years old. Bessie was born August 20, 1909, to Martha Carolina Jensen and Frank William Jackson in Salina, Utah. While living in Salina she met and married Burton Monroe Thompson May 21, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Bessie worked for the Salt Lake City, Public Schools for 20 years as Lowell Elementary School Secretary. When Lowell burned down she became a traveling secretary for the Salt Lake Public Schools but stayed at Rose Park Elementary school for one full year. Bessie met her husband Burton while she was a secretary for North Sevier High School and he was Elementary-Middle School Principal. Bessie and Burton loved to dance and won many local square dancing competitions over a 15- year period. Bessie was a longstanding member of the Ensign Second Ward on 9th Avenue and "D" Street, Salt Lake City, Utah where she had callings in the Primary and Relief Society. Bessie lived at 373 "H" Street from 1941 until 1994 at which time she moved to the Aztec Apartments and resided in the 33rd Ward of the University Stake. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Joel Ray Thompson, her parents, granddaughter, Charity Thompson, and two brothers. Her children survive her, David Burton (Jeanne) Thompson, Salt Lake City, Utah; Donald J. (Blix) Thompson, Woodland Hills, California; Fred Michael (Irene) Thompson, Westlake Village, California; Kathleen T. (T. Bowring) Woodbury, St. George, Utah and a daughter-in-law, Betty G. Thompson, Austin, Texas. 25 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren also survive her. She is also survived by a sister, Merle J. Christensen. Interment Scipio City Cemetery, Scipio, Utah.
