Oscar Otho Jr. passed away January 4, 2023 in Midland, Texas at the age of 92. Oscar was born December 16, 1930 in Midland, Texas. He grew up in Midland and graduated from Midland High School. When he was a teenager, Oscar worked as a ranch hand on various nearby ranches. After graduation from high school Oscar married his high school sweetheart Virginia Long on March 16, 1951 in Midland, Texas. In April 1951 Oscar left to serve in the Korean War until April 1953. When Oscar returned home from the Korean War, he began working for Pioneer Natural Gas (Energas, Atmos). After retiring, Oscar opened his own company, 'Otho Meter Service', which his grandsons would work during summer. Oscar bought 'Penny' his first horse, by saving $25 dollars in pennies. Oscar and Virginia loved to dance at the Stampede to Hoyle Nix. Oscar loved roping and would often have his friends and neighbors come to his arena and team rope. He enjoyed taking his children to their rodeo events and later loved to watch his grandkids at stock shows and sporting events. Oscar is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, sister Dorthy Whitt and his parents. Oscar is survived by his daughter Terri Folger and husband Paul, his son Jimmy Otho and wife Jan. Grandchildren Casey Otho and wife Catherine, Michael Otho and wife Amy, Ryan Folger and wife Cheyenne, and Jorden Brooks and husband Aaron. Great grandchildren Max Otho, Ben Otho, Charlie Otho, Berkley Otho, Jerzee Otho, Kamden Brooks, Addisyn Brooks, Breelynn Brooks, Logan Folger and Mason Folger. The family would like to thank Janie Caldwell for the care she provided to Oscar in his later years. Also Yaderia Ibarra (Y) for her loyal friendship to Oscar over the past years. Honorary pallbearers are Casey Otho, Michael Otho, Ryan Folger and Aaron Brooks. Viewing will be come and go on Sunday January 8th, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch. Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Monday January 9th , 2023 at Resthaven Cemetery with Gary Jobe officiating.
