Bio

Norbert K. Kindler, 87 passed peacefully in the early morning of Friday, December 2, 2022. Born on May 27, 1935 in Ulysses, Nebraska to the late Alvin and Dorothy Kindler. He grew up in Evanston, Wyoming but has called Chesapeake, VA home for the last 52 years. After being transferred here by the United States Navy he served a 20 year career as an Aviation Storekeeper. "Norb" or "Bob" is survived by Gerrie Kindler, his soulmate and wife of 61 years; his son John Keith Kindler; his daughter Robin Snodgrass; his daughter Teresa Mizell and husband Tim; and grandchildren, Cameron Snodgrass and Alanna, Katie Norman and husband Wade, Zach Mizell and Viviana, and Madison VanAllen. His great grandchildren Avery, Easton, Layla, Wilder, and Lilly brought great joy and pride to his blessed life. "Norb" was the third in line of 11 children and he was extremely proud of his large and close extended family. Siblings include Janice, Patty, Rhonda, Keith, Jae Dee, Raeoma, Tommy, Twyla, Vietta, Ila Gae, and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved talking to and sharing their stories. He was a 1953 graduate of Evanston High and excitedly attended many class reunions. "Bob" loved life. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, shooting pool, giving advice, and telling stories. Never meeting a stranger, he rarely missed the chance to share old Navy stories. He was a tremendous fan of all sports. A high school basketball player, he was involved in coaching Deep Creek Little League baseball for thirty years, and passionately cheered on football teams, especially the Deep Creek Hornets or Cowboys. Bob" loved his family, had so many friends, and good neighbors. His little sheltie dog, Thea was his sidekick and buddy for many years. He will be truly missed by many. Burial will be at Albert G Horton Jr. Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
