Darrell M. Newman, age 81, of Ida Grove, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Zimmy's Bar and Grille of Ida Grove. Burial will be at the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove. Darrell Merlin Newman was born April 25, 1941 in Anthon, Iowa to Harold and Velma (Boles) Newman. He was united in marriage to JoAnn Miller and together they had four children. JoAnn passed away and then he was married to Judy Newman. After Judy's death he was united in marriage to Phylis Alexander. Darrell farmed until 1982 in addition to running Newman Trucking for 40 years, retiring in 2018. He loved playing with his grandchildren and watching wrestling, baseball and football. He was quite a guy, and always willing to help others. He is survived by his children, Clayton and wife Cindy Newman of Alabama, Alan Newman of Norfolk, NE and Kimberly and husband Brent Thoms of Norfolk, NE; grandchildren, Bryce Blunk, Jackie Angel, Nikki Newman, Bailey Thoms, Alyssa Newman and Brayden Thoms. He is also survived by two brothers, Dean and wife Lois Newman of Alta, IA and Dwight and wife Mary Newman of Ida Grove, IA. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rodney Dean; brother, Dale; grandparents and many extended relatives. BURIAL Saturday, January 14, 2023 Ida Grove Cemetery Ida Grove, IA 51445
