Bio
Jim was born on October 31, 1942 in Timbo, Arkansas to Carsie Taylor and Mary Jeff (Anderson) Hess and passed away on December 21, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. He grew up in Timbo and completed school at Ponca City, Oklahoma. Jim enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged. On December 24, 1968, he met Lucy Averitt and they were married on June 5, 1969 in the Little Wedding Chapel on Grand Lake. Their daughter, Brandi arrived in 1975. Jim was baptized at the Velma Baptist Church in 1977. Jim and Lucy made Enid their home for many years. He was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Enid until his retirement. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucy; children, Ann and Bill; grandson, Sam; sister, Ima Jo; brother, John. He is survived by his children, Brandi and Joe Akin, Julie and Bob Ward, Jon Leigh and honorary daughter, Renee Lange; grandchildren, Mackenzie (Greg), Tresha (Justin), Lacie (Aaron), Alix (Aaron), Wes (Hannah), Amanda, Billy (Hailey); great grandchildren, Emily, Cash, Lucy, Hollis, Maryella, Kingston, Mattox, Claire, Creede, Bricelynn, Porter, Eleanor, and Charlotte; other relatives and friends.
