Bio

Betty Sue Hamill, 87, former longtime Guymon resident passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the Oak Brook Health Care Center in Whitehouse, Texas. The daughter of Joe Bailey and Ina Faye (Parker) Carver, Betty Sue was born February 23, 1935 in Henderson County, Texas. She was raised and attended school in the area. Sue and Abner E. Hamill were united in marriage on December 23, 1951 in Murchison, Texas. They moved to Guymon in December of 1970. The Hamill's owned and operated Guymon Sewing Center for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Abner on August 2, 1992; an infant son, Paul Ray Hamill; one sister, Jo Ann "Joey" Lovato; and two brothers: Victor and Bobby Carver. Survivors include one son, Lowell Howard Hamill and wife, Beth of Tyler, Texas; three grandchildren: Adam & Maritza Hamill of McKinney, TX, Kyla & Kevin Setser of Jasper, GA and Caleb & Gloria Hamill of Edinburg, TX; seven great grandchildren; three sisters: Wanda Smith and husband, Ivan of Guymon, Gwen Batterman and Carol Mandrell both of Amarillo, Texas; sisters-in-law, Sheryl Carver of Guymon and Marcy Carver of Georgetown, TX; and brother-in-law, Leo Lovato of Guymon; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning, December 3rd from 9:00 a.m. up until funeral service time at 11:00 a.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.
