Bonnie Trouba, age 91 years of Lincoln, passed away on November 23, 2022. Bonnie was born on April 18, 1931, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Walter and Viola (Wilcox) Schroeder. Bonnie married Emil (Curly) Trouba on August 5, 1950. Bonnie worked at Eliason and Knuth Drywall, Inc. for many years before moving on to Nebraska Farm Bureau Insurance and finally ending her career working for the State of Nebraska in the election office. Starting in the early 70s, Bonnie befriended residents at Lancaster Manor who had no family or friends sharing her beautiful smile and homemade goodies with them every Saturday afternoon. In her retirement, she took her love for the elderly up a notch by becoming part of the Ombudsman program through the State working with the residents of local nursing homes and advocating for their rights. Bonnie also volunteered as an usher at the Lied Center which combined two things she loved -greeting and talking with new and old friends and enjoying the musical performances, especially those from the big band era. Bonnie loved to laugh! She loved to sing and dance and she loved the fresh, clean smell of sheets dried in the sunshine. She enjoyed cooking and trying out new recipes. She was an avid reader and keno player! She was strong and resilient. She was kind and generous. Most and best of all, Bonnie loved the Lord. She woke up each morning with a prayer on her lips and went to sleep the same way. She was faithful to her Lord and Savior and while the rest of us weren't ready for her to go, we are sure that when He called her name and held out His hand for hers, she didn't hesitate to take it. Bonnie was preceded in death by her Husband, Parents and several Brothers and Sisters-in-law.
