When John M. Thomas was born on 11 July 1878, in Spanish Fork, Utah, Utah,, his father, William Jones Thomas Jr, was 31 and his mother, Eleanor Jane Bowen, was 25. He married Ann Elizabeth Ormond on 9 February 1906, in Provo, Utah, Utah. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 2 daughters. He lived in Castleford Election Precinct, Twin Falls, Idaho in 1940 and Buhl, Twin Falls, Idaho in 1950. He was a farmer. He died on 15 November 1966, in Twin Falls, Idaho at the age of 88.
