Bio
Regina Mayer went to be with her Lord, unexpectedly at her home on Monday evening March 12, 2018. Mrs. Mayer was born in Praha, TX, on May 10, 1926 to Frank and Vlasta (Vyvjala) Kocurek. On April 14, 1947 she married Ladik F. Mayer. Regina was a homemaker with a passion for cooking, baking, and gardening. Kolache, Buktha, Klabasnik and Angel Food cake were her specialties. She worked as a certified nurse's aide at the former Bluebonnet Nursing Home for 19 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 29 years, 7 brothers and 5 sisters. Survivors are 3 sons, Gilbert L. Mayer, wife Karen of Taylor, Leonard Mayer and Patrick Mayer of Granger. One daughter, Gladys M. Mitchum, husband Donnie of Oney, OK. Grandchildren are Christie Black , husband Kirk, Laurie Rodriguez, husband Greg, Andrew Mayer, Alison Anderson, husband Ryan, Nicholas Mitchum, wife Rebecka, Christopher Mitchum, wife Kara, and Jennifer Brown, husband Ryan. Great grandchildren are Kylar, Ashlyn and Shaylie Black. Damian David, Noah, Elias, Ian and Kobe Rodriguez. Olivia and Liam Anderson. Brooklynn and Nicholas Mitchum Jr. Ophelia Brown, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Nicholas Mitchum Sr., Andrew Mayer, Kylar Black, Kirk Black, Greg Rodriguez, Damian David. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Baca, Eugene Baca, Jerome Michalik, Ryan Anderson, Ryan Brown and Christopher Mitchum. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Providence Funeral Home, Taylor, Rosary starting at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 19th at 10:00 am at SS Cyril and Methodius Church in Granger with Father Hilario Guajardo officiating. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger.
