Bio

Elvera Mae (Guthmann) Orsak, 93, of Pearland, Texas passed away on Wednesday September 28, 2022. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Edward Orsak, her parents Emil and Valeria (Wavra) Guthmann, and siblings Frank Lesikar, LaVene Farek, and Henry Guthmann. She is survived by her children; son Dale Orsak, daughter Dana Owens and her husband Mickey, son Daryl Orsak and his wife Cyndi; grandchildren Amy Bogs and her husband Buster, Kayla Orsak, and Krista Orsak; and great-granddaughter Sarah Bogs. Elvera was born March 19, 1929, in New Ulm, Texas. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, who she knew as "Mom" and "Pop". As a young adult, she worked various positions at the bank in her hometown. She later met her love, Edward, and was married December 16, 1951, in Louisiana. After marriage, Elvera took on the important role of stay-at-home mother to raise her three children. Her family settled in Pearland, where she remained for more than 55 years. She was an active member of St. Helen Catholic Church for over 50 years. She developed many friendships, and served on several committees throughout the years, including the Catholic Daughters. Elvera, known to so many as "Nana", happily welcomed family and friends into her home. She greeted all with a hug and made sure everyone was well fed with her homemade cooking. She kept her candy dish full, and always waved "goodbye" to her visitors from her front porch. She loved working outside in her yard, which she kept beautifully maintained throughout the years. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds and solving word search puzzles daily. Nana was best known for her delicious chicken salad sandwiches that she made for every birthday, holiday, and special occasion. She had a deep love for those close to her and made family her highest priority. She will be so greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation Tuesday, October 4, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a rosary service to begin at 7:00 pm at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 North Main Street, Pearland, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at South Park Funeral Home. Following the funeral and graveside service, there will be a lunch at St. Helen Catholic Church, Helena Hall, 2209 Old Alvin Road, Pearland, Texas. South Park Funeral Home
