Emil August Dubec was born in Cornhill, Texas on December 11, 1937 to Joseph and Frances Dubec. He went to school in Needville, Texas. He wed Maxine Vasek at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek, Texas on January 11, 1965. Together, with their two children, they made their home in Houston and were members of Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Emil worked at May/Texas Aluminum Industries for 43 years, retiring in Houston, Texas. Emil deeply loved his family and enjoyed working on his "fishing" property located in Wharton County on the Colorado River. He enjoyed fishing whenever he had the opportunity. Emil took great pride in mentoring and counseling local neighborhood children by giving them jobs at Texas Aluminum. He touched so many lives in this way, giving them a strong work ethic and feeling of self-worth. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor and love of conversations over a cup of coffee. Emil passed away Thursday, September 29, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family and loved ones. Emil is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Maxine Dubec; son, Michael Dubec and wife, Elaine, of Missouri City; granddaughter, Lauren Chastain and husband, Garrett, of Lubbock; grandsons, Dustin Dubec of Houston, Austin and Matthew Dubec of Missouri City; son, William Dubec and wife, Lindey, of Houston; and sister, Frances Janca of Sealy.
