Irene Eldridge, 88, of Greenville died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Briarcliff Health Center. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Bill Shaddox and Larry Eason officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park. Mrs. Eldridge was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Quinlan; the daughter of Homer and Lena Mae Talley Smith. She was married to Ray Eldridge on March 8, 1947, in Rockwall. She was a retired seamstress from Haggar and a Baptist. Surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Carmen Herron and Chuck Foti of Greenville; nephew and wife, Max and Kay Herron of Sulphur Springs; great-nephew, Zachary Herron of Sulphur Springs; sisters-in-law, Faye Smith and Faye Blackter, both of Garland, and Eunice Harpe of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Joe H. Smith, Mansel Smith, Bill Smith, David Elton Smith, Leon Smith and Weldon Smith; sister, Bessie Lois Smith; and sister-in-law, Faye Smith. Pallbearers are Donnie Smith, Tommy Smith, Mark Eldridge, Mike Eldridge, Max Herron and David Eldridge. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday.
