Bio

Jerry Frank Stevena (Taps) went to be with Jesus on August 29th, passing peacefully of natural causes with family by his side. Jerry was a hard-working country boy from the Wharton area. He spent the better part of his life married to his true love, Dolores Ann, at their home in Wallis. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jerry was a man of his word who cared deeply for his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Susan and her husband, Mark; 3 grandkids, Jerry and his wife, Sarah, Kyle and his wife, Keegan, and Tracy and her fiancé, Logan; 4 great-grandkids, Kaydence, Aspen, Bowen, and Landon. Jerry started his working life in the oil field but settled in at Gulf States Tube where he eventually retired. Jerry had a lengthy retirement before becoming around the clock caretaker for his wife for her last 3 years. Dolores, his wife of 65 years, went to be with Jesus on March 3rd of this year. After her passing, Jerry spent his last few months catching up on life, going for country drives to visit his childhood home, and even trying out his luck at some fishing. Jerry loved being outside, using his hands, and keeping a well-groomed yard. A good meal is what kept him going; Jerry loved good food, anything from his unforgettable BBQ chicken to his every morning bacon and egg breakfast. Jerry spent his past time in the backyard repairing people's broken lawn equipment. If you lived near Wallis, chances are he had his hands on your lawnmower. Born August 10th, 1936, Jerry lived a full and long life, and he loved telling stories from his younger days. Every story he told had him laughing before he could finish telling it. Jerry's greatest accomplishments were being such a devoted husband and a positive influence to his grandkids. His hard work and determination has shaped his family into who they have become. His strong influence and sense of humor will be missed greatly. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM at Knesek and Sons Funeral Home, 122 N. First Street, Wallis, Texas 77485, with a rosary at 6:30 PM. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 5518 Demel Street in Wallis. Interment will be in Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery.
