DEATH OF JACK HOWARD The End Came Last Night at 9 o'clock. Funeral This Afternoon Services Held at Residence. Burial in Pecan Grove cemetery. Jack W. Howard, who has been sick for two weeks at his home on North Church street, died last night at 9 o'clock from a malignant disease of the pancreas. Mr. Howard had been in declining health for several months. About the 1st of June he went over to Ft. Worth to visit his brother, Dr. W. R. Howard, who is a leading physician there, and has been treating him since. The deceased was born in Ozark county, Mo., Aug. 22, 1953 and would have been fifty years old at his next birthday. He was taken by his parents to Webster County, Mo., in the winter of 1861 and '62, where they resided until Dec. of 1868; then removed from his parents to Taney County, Mo., worked at farming two years; learned the printers trade at Forsyth, Mo., moved to Texas in 1871; returned to Taney Co., Mo., in 1872 and was publisher of a newpaper in 1873; taught school the following winter, also in the fall and winter of 1874. He was married Jan. 15, 1974 to Miss Alice C. Jennings. They moved to Texas in 1877 and ived for awhile in the Indian Territory; later on they moved to Hunt Co., then to Collin County and to McKinney in 1883, where they have resided constantly since. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Howard, all living as follows: Lester, Cora, Charles, Jack, Zack, Mary, Morris and Esther. Three are married; Lester, Cora and Charles. Mr. Howard was one of a family of nine children, three brothers and three sisters surviving him namely; Dr. W. R Howard, Ft. Worth, Texas; Richard Howard Forsyth, Mo., D. D Howard Marionville, Mo., Mrs. Thomas Compton, Mrs. Lewis Michael and Mrs. A. B. Selser, all of Marionvill, Mo. Dr. Howard of Ft. Worth, D. D. Howard and Mrs. Selser of Missouri, were with him shen he died. Mr. Howard had been a member of the Methodist church since 1868, and the funeral services were conducted at the residence this afternoon at 4 o'clock by his pastor, Rev. W. A. Stuckey. The interment was made at Pecan Grove cemetery. Mrs. Howard was an honorable, upright man and was liked by everyone who knew him. He as a kind, affectionate father and his family have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement. Published in the McKinney Daily Courier Saturday June 20, 1903
