Mary J. Higginbotham May 30, 1933 - August 13, 2022 Mary Joan Higginbotham, age 89, of Council Bluffs passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at her home. She was born on May 30, 1933 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to the late Matt and Marcella (Goering) Homan. Mary married Robert Dale Higginbotham on December 31, 1955. She worked as a Dental Assistant with her husband Robert Higginbotham, DDS. Mary retired in October 1988. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Council Bluffs, St. Albert Ambassadors, Opti-Mrs and was a Wings of Hope volunteer. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Higginbotham in 1988; mother and father Marcella and Mathias Homan; 3 brothers, Bill Homan, John Homan and Dick Homan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peggy and La Verne Goss; and brother-in-law, John Stewart. Survivors include sons, Brad (Patti) Higginbotham, Greg (Dena) Higginbotham, and Brian (Lynn) Higginbotham all of Council Bluffs; 5 grandchildren, Garret (Rachel) Higginbotham, Abbey (Mike) Redshaw, Nathan Higginbotham, Alex (Maggie) Higginbotham, and Macy Higginbotham; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dennis and Timee Higginbotham; and sisters-in-law, Linda Stewart, Johanna Homan, Sandy Homan, and Julie Homan. Visitation with family on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00PM at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 10:00AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4 Valley View Drive. Burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials to Wings of Hope or St. Albert.
