Edward ("Eddie") William Morrison passed peacefully on October 5, 2021, joining his beloved wife, Dolores (Venglar) Morrison, in eternal rest. Eddie was born February 3, 1939, to Hugh and Dorothy Morrison in Rockport, TX, along with his siblings Bob, Jim, Marilyn, and Hugh (Bubba). Growing up, Eddie worked in the family business, Morrison Sports Center, known for outfitting fisherman and hunters, catching and selling fresh seafood, chartering fishing and duck hunting trips. While in high school, Eddie was a duck hunting guide for the family business and for private duck hunting clubs in the Rockport area. Eddie was a standout athlete in high school, starring on the Rockport Pirate football and basketball teams. Eddie was the starting quarterback for the Pirates until a car accident cut short his football career after his junior year. He was a 4-year basketball letterman. Eddie attended college at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, earning a Bachelor in Business Administration. After college, he joined the Bill Lyons Company as a food broker and moved to Victoria, TX. At a nearby dance in Inez, Eddie met Dolores Venglar, who would become the love of his life. He married his best girl in June of 1963. Eddie and Dolores had 3 sons. As the boys grew, Eddie cultivated their love of sports by coaching them in basketball, football and baseball. He also instilled in them a love of the Texas coast and the town of Rockport, Texas. Eddie took the boys and their friends on hunting and fishing trips, Indian Guides, and numerous other adventures. The greater part of his life was spent enjoying time with his sons, their wives, and his five grandchildren. Eddie's favorite activity was attending the Morrison Family reunion every August in Rockport. Rarely do people have two great loves, but Eddie was one of the lucky ones. After Dolores passed in 2010, Eddie was blessed to find Elizabeth Moad, a partner to share the remainder of his life with. Eddie and Liz spent time together attending various social events, dining out, visiting with friends and family, and simply enjoying each other's company. Services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 11:00am at San Antonio First Church of the Nazarene, 10715 West Avenue, San Antonio, TX, 78213. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
