Bio
Bill Franklin, age 90 of Hideaway, Texas, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, in Tyler. He was born September 5, 1932, in Fredrick, Oklahoma to the late William and Adell (Woodruff) Franklin. Bill was in the U.S Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a Servant leader in all areas of his life including his career, church, youth sports, and service organizations. Bill was also a member of the T.R. Bonner Masonic Lodge and the 32nd degree Scottish Rite. Bill coached little league baseball for many years and as a Shriner he transported children to the Shriners Hospital. Bill enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. He retired as an executive with the Federal Aviation Administration after 33 years of public service. Bill was preceded in death by his mom, dad and son, Rusty. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolores; daughters, Cindy and husband, Kevin Pontius of Hideaway Lake, Crystal and husband, David Rudko of Keller, Tx, son Greg Franklin of Anchorage, Alaska; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Christine, Natalie, Brooke, and Meagan; 9 great-grandchildren,; 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at the Church of St. Dunstan Episcopal Church in Mineola, Texas with Bishop Lawton officiating.
