She passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Joyce was born to HJ and Merle Edwards on March 27, 1937 in Slaton, Texas. She was the second of three daughters born to HJ and Merle. She spent much of her childhood with her sisters, Carolyn and Lou, working on the family farm in Pleasant Valley. She graduated from Southland High School. Joyce started nursing school but put her career plans on hold when she met Charles. She knew the minute she met him that they were meant to be together. Joyce and Charles married on December 23, 1955. For 49 years, they worked together on the family business, enjoyed traveling the world together, and in later years, working on their small ranch in Pleasant Valley. Joyce lived in the Lubbock area for her entire life, except for a short stint in Georgia. Though she loved to travel, Joyce also loved being at home and took pride in keeping a beautiful home. She was an avid collector of antiques. Joyce was a long-time m,ember of Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock. When she was no longer able to attend, she enjoyed watching televised services every Sunday. Joyce loved music. She was a self-taught pianist who couldn't rgead a note but could play almost anything by ear. Her taste in music was broad: New Orleans jazz, the Mamas and the Papas, Don Williams, and the stray Cats, among others. Recently, she was even "caught" listening to HipHop. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Scott; her granddaughter, Tiffany Ivy; and her grandson, Craig Ivy. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude's or Hospice of Lubbock in her memory Published in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal July 28, 2022
