ADOLPHUS "DOC" HENRY GIST SR. was the son of William Jack Gist and Mrs. Lucy Dell (Irby) Gist. He was the husband of Mrs. Opal Helen (Wallace) Gist whom he married on September 17, 1924 in Hunt County, Texas. Their known children were --- Adolphus Henry Gist Jr. Larry Bascom Gist Helen Diane Gist Reginald "Reggie" Blair Gist He preceded his wife in death. Upon his passing, he was laid to rest on September 20, 1947 on the grounds of Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas. Burial arrangements managed by George A. Brewer Funeral Home & Chapel of Dallas. After a brief illness, she passed away on May 18, 2004. She was the eldest of five children all of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Adolphus Henry "Doc" Gist, a Dallas attorney. She is survived by children, a son, Adolphus Gist Jr., of Dallas, and his wife, Mary Lou; a son, Larry Gist, of Mesquite, and his wife, Gene; a daughter, Diane Jacob, and her husband, John; and a son, Reggie Gist, of Nashville, Tennessee, and his wife, Robyn. She was also survived by nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great- great-grandchildren."
