Bio

Charles F. Labay Sr., 86, of Garwood, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001. He was born March 27, 1915, in Garwood, to the late Joseph and Caroline "Carrie" Drlik Labay. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII and the Pacific and European theaters. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada, Knights of Columbus of Nada and VFW Post 6113 of Columbus. He was a farmer and rancher. Survivors: daughters, Janet Boyle of Mariposa, CA and Marlene Castleman of Eagle Lake; sons, Charles Labay of Columbus, Clifton Labay of Altair and Cary Labay of Woodway; eight grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by: wife, Nollie Buzek Labay; parents; sisters, Wilma Haschke, Annie Dornak and Frances Labay; and brothers, Henry Labay, Ed Labay and Leo Labay. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday and 8-11 a.m. Tuesday at Henneke Funeral Home chapel, and 1 p.m. until service time Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada. A parish prayer service and rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Monday at the chapel.A Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church.Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Joe Koebel officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Nada. Henneke Funeral Home, 1515 Montezuma St., Columbus, 979-732-2143.
