Bio

Darlene passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Advent Care (formerly Rollins Brooks), Lampasas TX. Darlene was born July 23, 1937 in Burnet TX to Jim and Mabel (Hines) McGuire. Darlene was married to Leslie Patterson until his passing. She remarried in 1993 to Howard Ray. Darlene held many titles in her life. She was a waitress through most of her younger years. She was also an entrepreneur. She owned her own Beauty salon and a thrift store/consignment shop in Lampasas. She also sold Tupperware and Avon. She worked as a Home Health Aide. Everybody loved her famous Peanut Brittle. Most will remember her giving demos at HEB. BUT her greatest accomplishment was her family. Darlene was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was known to all as "Granny". She was a member of the Pentecostal faith. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leslie and husband Howard, her sons-Ronny Patterson and Walter Patterson. She was also preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, Leslie Cisneros, Will Price and Avery Shirhall. She was preceded in death by four of her siblings: two sisters, Vivian and Shirley and by two brothers, James, and Morris. She is survived by her children, Bobby Patterson, Jerry Patterson, Beverly (Frank) Silliman, Brenda (Joel) Schoepf, and Linda (Johnnie) McGhee. She left behind 23 grandchildren and numerous great and great -great grandchildren, Her siblings: Sisters-Laverne, Susie, and Betty. One brother: Jimmy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held Friday July 22, 2022, from 6-7pm at Heritage Funeral Home. Services for Darlene will be held Saturday July 23, 2022, 10 am at Heritage Funeral Home 401 N. Key Ave. Lampasas, TX. Burial to follow Memorial service at Center Cemetery.
