Bio

Clyde Chester Stoll, 96, passed away on July 11, 2022, at his home in Nebraska City surrounded by his daughters and family. Clyde Chester Stoll was born on May 9, 1926, in Dunbar, Nebraska to Joseph William and Ruth Esther (Willliams) Stoll. Upon graduation from Nebraska City High School, Clyde was drafted in the Navy where he fought in the Pacific Campaign upon the USS AMMEN. Honorably discharged, Clyde hitchhiked upon dirt roads from Kansas City back to Nebraska City after war's end. There at the skating rink, he met the love of his life Alyce Ann Childers. They were married on August 16, 1946 and celebrated over 45 years together. To their union, they added eight daughters and settled their life in the Nebraska City area. Clyde managed the Phillips 66 station in Nebraska City and eventually added the oil truck. As a proud veteran, Clyde wanted to impact his local community. He served as a City Councilman and as a County Commissioner. He was proud of the bypass and the added safety of the overpass construction. Clyde also belonged to the American Legion for 50 years and was a member of the Elks club. In his free time, he loved to play cards, laugh, and tell yarns. Clyde was preceded in death by his wives Alyce Stoll, LuAnna Childers Stoll, and Earlene Reigner Stoll; his daughter Carol O'Flaherty; his parents Joseph and Ruth Stoll; his five brothers: John Stoll, George Stoll, Joseph Stoll, Paul Stoll, and Frank Stoll; his honorary brother Chick (Charles) Connell; and five sisters: Grace Stoll, Ruth Heng, Opal Biner, Patricia Holder, and Betty Bartek. Interment at Wyuka Cemetery, and a luncheon at St. Mary's Church will occur after graveside services.
