Alex H. Reed, 69, retired hotel owner died at his home Tuesday, April 15, at 5 p. m. following a lengthy illness. His condition had Seen quite critical the last few Weeks. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 4 p.m. In the family residence, 211 East Fannin street. Rev. W. J. Coleman, minister of First Presbyterian church, officiated. Mrs. George C. Brown sang End of a Perfect Day, Mrs. W.J. Coleman playing the accompaniment. Funeral arrangements were made, by Galloway Mortuary. The active pallbearers were J T. Hill, Joe Wilson, Reese Wade, Ben Adams, Judge Joe Wade, and John Connevey. Burial was in Glenwood cemetery. The honorary pallbearers were: A. C. Jones, O. J. Bocquet, John R. Beasley, Jack Knight, Warren Young, Joe Rarimez Sr., Henry Hall Sr., Amos Timon, Judge Ernest Bond, M. P. Adair, Ray Welder, Amos Welder, J. T. Ballard Sr., Ben R. Nash, Claude Heard, Earl B. Hunt, I. P. O'Neil, Vass Irby, C. R. Gordon, Dr. H. E. Lassiter, Dr. Scott E. McNeill Sr., Dr. Ernest Miller, R. L. Bills, W. C. McCord, W. B. Berning, A. E. Newsome, and Browne Beasley, of Beeville, Calvin Llngburg, Jim Lott, Jim Milam Pettus, Henry Lott, Lott Pettus. and Freeman Lott, of Goliad Lawrence B. Howard, Freeport and Hal McCampbell, Hebbronville. Alexander Hamilton Reed Was born Aprl 2, 1883 in Goliad. He was born of James Phillip and Ida (York) Reed. He came to Beeville in 1920, and that year was married to Miss Ann Schvab of karnes city. Ih 1926, Mr. Reed became as sociated with his father-in-law, the late A. V. Schvab, in establishing hotel Kohler. Mr. Reed was manager of the hostelry for many years but retired about a decade ago because of ill health. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. Mr. Reed is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ann J Reed, and a son, Hamilton S. Reed, both of Beeville.
