Bio

From Schaetter Funeral Home: Louis Albert Faust Jr., born June 12, 1933 passed on July 5, 2022. Louis grew up in Comfort, TX, an only child raised by his loving aunts after his mother passed due to complications from childbirth. He attended Shreiner University and the University of Florida before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1954. After serving honorably with the marines, Louis returned to Comfort, where he married the love of his life, Mary (Sofge), in 1956. He worked for Southwestern Bell while raising his two children, Mimi and Fritz. After Mary's life was tragically cut short in 1979, Louis remarried, this time to Linda Ledesma of San Antonio, with whom he had his third child, Louis III. After 35 years with Southwestern Bell, Louis retired in 1991 and returned once again to Comfort, where he stayed active in retirement until recently. Louis is survived by his two sons Fritz and Louis, his six grandchildren (Alexandra Faust, Megan Valdez, Rusty Howard, Vincent Faust, Jack Faust, and Stella Faust) and three great grandchildren( Maddie and Layla Valdez, and Ivy Howard). He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mary, his second wife, Linda, his daughter, Mimi, and, as he would lament, the majority of his closest friends and family members. A product of the time, place, and people of his upbringing, Louis was a simple, direct man. He loved the Texas Hill County, poetry, hard work, and hot rods, though he never did see it fit to spend the money on one. He played life close to the vest but had a big heart that quietly loved his family and close friends dearly. In accordance with his wishes, graveside services for Louis will be held at the Comfort Cemetery on Friday, July 8, at 8:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given in his memory to the Comfort Volunteer Fire Dept. or the charity of your choice.
