Mary Sue Watkins Thornhill of Sherman, Texas passed from this life October 3rd, 2023. Mary Sue was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Andrews, TX. to Cynthia Myrtle Guthrie and Aarron Monroe Watkins. She spent her younger years growing up in Andrews where she attended school and gave her heart to Christ. At the young age of 15 she met, fell in love with and married A.W. Thornhill on October 14, 1955. Together they raised 6 boys while pastoring several different churches throughout Texas and Arkansas. Then as if that was not enough, they added a daughter. She is preceded in in death by her husband A.W. Thornhill, her parents Cynthia and Aarron Watkins, and eight brothers and sisters. Mom's children include Bill Thornhill, of Sherman, TX, Alton and Glenda Thornhill of Pineland, TX, Tim Thornhill of Leonard, TX, Roger and Sheila Thornhill of Leonard, TX, Ernie and Dana Thornhill of Howe, TX, Nathan and Lisa Thornhill of Schertz, TX, and Christi and Tim Combs of Parks, AR. Memaw also was blessed with 30 grandkids and 26 great-grandkids. Mary Sue as Mom, Memaw, family or friend was never one to keep her Faith nor her love of the Word a secret. One of her favorite scriptures is 3rd John 4: "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00PM Friday, October 6, 2023, at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Curtis Edwards delivering the obituary and Bro. John D. Boone delivering the message. Burial will follow at the Van Alstyne Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mary Sue's children. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory, 637 W. Van Alstyne, Pkwy.
