Bio
Stanley Gerich of Palmer, Texas passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on September 12, 2021 in Palmer, Texas after a battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born on April 17, 1940 to Bob & Annie Gerich. He was the 5th child of 10 children. He grew up in Telico, Texas on his family farm working the fields as traveling share croppers. He graduated in 1960 from St. John's Catholic school in Ennis, Texas after taking a year off to work on his family farm. He later went on to work for and retire from St. Regis packaging company in Dallas, Texas. Then went to work for and retire from Tyler Refrigeration in Waxahachie, Tx. In 1962 he married the love of his life, Janis Lee Colston. Where they then started their lives together in Dallas, Texas. Later moving to Palmer, Texas. During their marriage they were blessed with three wonderful sons, David, Travis and Joe. He was a Christian man who was devoted to his Church in Palmer that he had attended since meeting his wife Janis in the early 1960's. Stanley attended his Sunday School class until he was no longer able. He made sure his kids grew up in Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to hunt and fish. You could always find him outside tinkering on a car or building something or planting in his garden. He also spent many hours in the kitchen baking cookies and making flapjacks. He was a wonderful carpenter and mechanic. He loved to work on his 1968 Camaro RS/SS and enjoyed giving the grandchildren and great-grandchildren rides in it. He enjoyed camping and time spent with his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He is preceded by his parents Bob & Annie, sisters Margret Haskovec, Victoria Johnson, Annalou Jones, and brother Wesley. Visitation will be held on Thursday September 16, 2021 at J.E. Keever Funeral Home in Palmer, Texas from 6:00-8:00 PM. Service will be held on Friday September 17, 2021 at First Baptist Church Palmer, Texas at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Palmer Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Funeral Home and Officiated by Brother Frank Lidkie.
