Holcomb, Kansas ----- Donald G. Pike, 72, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born Aug. 9, 1942, in Ainsworth, Neb., to Lee and Lucy May Donahoo Pike. On March 10, 1984, he married Evelyn "Lou" Allen in Garden City. She died June 4, 2007. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vaden Pike; and a sister, Bonnie Hambleton. Mr. Pike worked on the family farm until moving to Great Bend in 1974 to work for Berry Tractor. In 1976 he moved to Holcomb and worked at Garden City Co-op in the vehicle repair department, drove a truck for Klotz Sand Co., worked at Henkle Drilling, was a technician at Oil Alley and lastly was an oil lube technician at Wal-Mart. Survivors include his fiancée, Karen Brubaker of Holcomb, tow sons, Ronald Pike of Colorado Springs, Colo, and Donald Pike of Garden City; two daughters, Shellyl Taylor of Alliance, Nb. And Valerie Phoenix of Sublette; four step-children, Daniel Miller and Lonny Bruebaker, both of Garden City, Tim Buebaker of Wichita, and Carol Shrimplin of Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Kenneth Pike of Omaha, Neb; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
