Bio

Dorothy Woodward Dorothy Woodward of Federal Way, WA passed away Jan 21 at St. Francis Hospital with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. She was 92. Dorothy was born April 19, 1915 in Callaway, Nebraska to Leo and Statia Litty. She was married to Gordon Woodward in October of 1933. They settled in Sidney, Nebraska in 1952. Dorothy was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She worked many years as a bookkeeper for various businesses. Dorothy and Gordon moved the state of Washington in 1986 to be near their son, Ken. Dorothy was an active member, until recent bad health deterred her, of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Altar Society, the Church Quilters, Kloshee Ihlahee Pinochle Group and Fife Senior Center. Her family says Mom/ Grandma was the nucleus of our family, a true lady with tons of energy, a great cook, and a heart as big as all outdoors. Her family, along with her God, was the most important things in her life. We are so sad to no longer have her with us and will miss her greatly, but she will live on in our hearts and memories. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gordon , her brothers Leo and Leonard. She is survived by her daughters, Pat Meick and spouse Joe of Florida, Dee Timlin and spouse Gary of Alaska, son Ken and spouse Cindy of Gig Harbor, grandsons Doug Meick of Virginia and Ron Meick of Delaware, granddaughter Krista Timlin of Alaska, great-grandsons Philip Meick of New York and Ethan Meick of Delaware. Funeral Mass will be Fri., Jan 25, 11:00AM, preceded by Rosary at 10:30AM, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Fife, WA. Graveside Committal will be in the Rose Garden of Sumner Cemetery, where she will be buried alongside her husband of 58 years, Gordon. Arrangements by Powers Sumner Funeral Home.
