Mr. Pinnell served in both World Wars and was the 8th man to receive the U. S. Distinguished Service Cross. He was credited with several notable achievements, including the formation of the first blind Boy Scout Troop in Cleveland, Ohio, and the first company of Navy WAVES during World War 11. He worked as a wholesale florist in Florida until his retirement some 15 years ago when he moved to Mesquite. He has been recognized as one of the nation's leading authorities on orchids and tropical plants. Mr. Pinnell was a native of Texas and a member of the first graduation class of Moran High School in 1914 and was a graduate of the University of Texas.
