Bio

Melvin H. Wilson, 83, of Wayne, NE, formerly of rural Wakefield, died on Sunday, June 16, 2022, at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, NE. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. ---------- Melvin was born on July 3, 1938, the son of Joe and Alvena Greve Wilson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church south of Wakefield. He attended rural elementary school and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1955. On July 6, 1958, Melvin married (Roth) at St. John's Lutheran Church rural Pender. Melvin and Betty lived and farmed in Wayne County until moving to Wayne in 2016. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents. Melvin was a life-long farmer who enjoyed woodworking and loved to go dancing, play cards, and golf. Melvin was a 4-H leader, usher and elder in his church, and served on the Farm Service Agency committee. He and Betty wintered in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico for 23 years. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery.
