Bio

When Josef Jan (John) Martinka was born on September 16, 1840, in Lidecko, North Moravia, Czech Republic, his father, Josef, was 20 and his mother, Marina Juricek, was 19. He married Therezia Valek on February 7, 1871, in his hometown. They had 11 children in 21 years. Baby Anton Martinka died at 11 weeks of age in 1880. John Martinka died on December 10, 1919, in Granger, Williamson County, Texas, at the age of 79, and was buried there.
