James Warren Henderson Sr., 90 years old, died Tuesday, May 24, at his residence in Sherman. James was born July 24, 1931, in Mart, Texas. He was the son of Peyton Howell and Thelma (Keeland) Henderson. During his Jr. High and High School years, Jim was a Champion Swimmer. Jim joined the Army National Guard immediately after the 1947 Texas City explosion and served for 22 years. Jim joined the Houston Fire Department in 1951, and achieved the rank of Chauffeur, until retiring in 1972. He was a trip taker, whenever Mom wanted to load us 5 kids up, even after working the night shift at the Fire Station. He was the most loving, caring, easy-going, likeable, great sense of humor, Dad and PawPaw, and will be missed greatly by everyone. He is survived by Daughters, Johnye Henderson of Sherman; Joanye Eversole (Mark) of Flatonia, Jammye Chance of Livingston ; Sons, James W. Henderson, Jr. (Theresa) of Conroe, Jack E. Henderson (Whitney) of New Braunfels; Sister, Pauline Manuel of San Antonio. Also surviving are Grandchildren, Christy Peterman, Betsy Coffman, Amy Bookout, Emily Payne, Charlie Younts, Matthew Younts, Kerri Smith, Katie Robinson, James W. Henderson, III, Jeremy Henderson, J.C. Chance, Marlon Chance, Erin Einhaus, Melanie Plaster, Adam Henderson; and 34 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Johnye Jeanette Fallon Henderson (2006), his parents, his sisters Kitty Lou Henderson Horton and Mary Ella Henderson and brother Peyton Howell (Buddy) Henderson, Jr. A rosary will be held at 6 pm Thursday, May 26, in the Chapel of Waldo Funeral Home, followed by family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 27, at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Father Martin Castaneda will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Sherman. Pallbearers will be James Henderson III, Jeremy Henderson, Adam Henderson, Charlie Younts, Matthew Younts, J. C. Chance and Marlon Chance. Waldo Funeral Home, 619 N.
