Bobby "Bobby Joe" Janiel Hempel, age 86, of Temple passed from this life during the morning hours of Friday, May 20th, 2022. He was born on the 22nd day of December 1935 in Holland, TX, to parents E. A. and Fern (Hagler) Hempel. Bobby was born and raised in Holland, TX. He spent most of his life in the Bell County area and was affiliated with the Baptist Church. Bobby graduated from Academy High School in 1955; after high school, Bobby proudly entered and served in the U.S. Army. He was a proud member of the 187th Air born regimental combat team and was a founding member of the Temple Gun Club. He worked for TXU Mining in Fairfield until his retirement. Bobby will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. Bobby Joe leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons Gary Lynn Hempel of Conroe and Kirk Nelson Hempel of Little River Academy, brother Jimmy Hempel of Little River Academy, three grandchildren: Dana Hempel, Laura Campbell, Bobby Joe Hempel, and numerous great-grandchildren.
