Carolyn J. Gray, 84, of Prescott, Iowa, entered eternal rest Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at EveryStep Hospice House in Creston. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston. Rev. Tim Maxa will officiate. Carolyn will be laid to rest in North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Carolyn Joan Gray was born September 4, 1937, the daughter of Alvy Merle and Esther Lucille (Kandler) Johnson, in Sumner, Nebraska. Carolyn was united in marriage to Paul Charles Gray Jan. 14, 1956, in Red Oak, Iowa. The couple was blessed with three sons: Steve, Tim and Tom. Carolyn was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker to her family. Her greatest pride and joy were her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved a well-groomed lawn, tending to her flowers and watching birds. Carolyn also loved to drive around the countryside looking at the crops. She enjoyed many bus trips with her friends and music jams in her younger years. Carolyn had a strong faith and was a long-time member of the Stringtown Church. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Parkinson Post in Lenox for many years. Preceding Carolyn in death were her husband, Paul Gray; her parents; brother, Duane and sister, Sherry. Carolyn is survived by her three sons: Steve (Beth) Gray of Mesa, Arizona; Tim (Pam) Gray of Creston and Tom (Tracey) Gray of Prescott; 12 grandchildren: Jacquie (Jayrd) Merritt, Jeremy (Jessica) Gray, Lucas (Mariah) Gray, Mitch Gray, Maggie Stuart, Courtney Gray, Matt Gray, Jenny (George) Gray-Scroggie, Josie Gray, Miranda Gray, Mark Gray and Michael Gray; 11 great-grandchildren: Miles Gray, McCoy Gray, Jaxon Gray, Maverick Gray, Presley Merritt, Asher Merritt, Mackenzie Gray, Zayne Gray, Hudson Murphy, Briggs Murphy and Avery Stuart; her sister-in-law, Joann Gray of Villisca; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carolyn will be missed by all who knew and loved her. May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn.
