Bio

Omer G.Stites, age 66yrs, of Dana Point, CA, passed away Jan. 8, 2008. Omer was born and raised in Omaha. He moved with his family to California in 1967, where he owned and operated his company, J.C. Bookcase, a furniture manufacturer. In 2007, he sold the business and retired. Omer was a beloved and private man. A devoted father and grandfather. He was self employed since late 30's with a huge business Custom Crates, during that time he dabbled with real estate and owned about 10 houses. He suffered a heart attack and lung cancer and was not quite superman anymore slowed down and purchased JC Bookcase. He never took vacations, though he had his passport for years and years it never contained a stamp. He sold his business and flirted with the idea of a vacation but he was a strong working man, that's all he knew and shortly after selling he passed away. He will be missed and remembered by his children, Omer D. Stites, Stacey Sorensen and Heidi Hargreaves; his 9 grandchildren, his brothers, Bud and Paul; sisters, Lea Stites and Judy Riha; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. There will be a "CELEBRATION OF LIFE" of this very special man at 3pm Sat, January 19, at 5903 N. 16th St., Omaha. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Omer's name to St. Joseph's Hospital, Orange, CA or the American Heart Assoc. Published in the Omaha World-Herald from 1/15/2008 - 1/18/2008.
