Bio
Barbara Cooksley died May 4, 2022. Barbara Schatz Cooksley was born July 24, 1939 in North Platte, Neb to Edward Schatz and Nevita Coates Schatz. She attended St. Patrick's School in North Platte and was a 1957 graduate. She received her BA degree in Education, majoring in Business and English at the University of Northern Colorado in 1960. Barbara taught high school in Grand Junction, Colo., and Hershey and Omaha in Nebraska. She married her husband, Frank Cooksley., Jr., in 1965 and they lived in North Platte before moving to Broken Bow where she was an accountant at Cooksley Ford, Inc, a dealership owned with her husband. Their two sons, Stephen and Mitchell, were born in Nebraska. The family moved to Vista, Calif. in 1984 when Frank sold the dealership and retired. Barbara was a member of st. Franci Catholic Church of Vista, Calif. She is survived by her son Mitchell (Rachel) of Vista, Calif.; grandsons Dylan Cooksley, Nathan Terhune; granddaughter Jennifer Thomas (Justin), Becky Tridle; and eleven grandchildren, all of Nebraska. Services are at St. Francis Catholic Church in Vista,, Calif with visitation at Allen Brothers Mortuary prior to the service. Graveside service will follow at the Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery, Oceanside, Calif. Published by Custer County Chief from May 12 to May 22, 2022.
