Bio

John Russell Allen , 79, of Meridian died Sunday in a Meridian hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Meridian First Baptist Church, the Rev. Richard Creech and minister Clayton young officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery at Iredell. Mr. Allen was born May 7, 1905, at Chico where he was reared and attended school. He married Lottie-Gann in 1926. He was a resident of Waco from 1945 until 1959. He later lived in Dallas and Lampasas before moving to Meridian in 1980. He was a Baptist and a retired carpenter. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Pat Long of Carrollton, Sibyl Frosch of Robinson and Bly Browder of Spring; three sons, John Allen Jr. of Camp Wood, Alfred Allen of Dallas and Milton Allen of Austin; two sisters, Grace Williams and Gladys Lundberg, both of Clifton; a brother, Royce Allen of Grandbury; 12 grandchildren; and severn great-grandchildren.
